Yala National Park
Yala National Park is one of the Oldest National Park in the Sri Lanka Located Southern Eastern Reigon,Extended over Two Province Namely UVA and SUTHERN. It’s Lies within Hambanthota and Monaragala Districts. Yala National Park is Coverd about 97,880 Hectares and it is the second largest national park in Sri Lanka. its consists of five blocks, two of which are now open to the public and also adjoining park. There are six national parks and three wildlife sanctuaries in the vicinity of Yala. The park is situated in the dry semi-arid climatic region and rain is received mainly during the northeast monsoon. Yala hosts a variety of eco systems ranging from moist monsoon forests to fresh water and marine wetlands.
Yala is situated in the lowest peneplain of the Island .The mean temperature range from a low26.38 oC in January to Highest of 27.85 oC in May. The average relative Humidity range between 76%-81% the mean total annual rain fall at yala is about 1,282 mm
In this park we can see six endarmic Birds and they are Grey Hornbill, Sri Lanka Jungle fowl, Sri Lanka Wood-pigeon, Crimson-fronted Barbet, Black-capped Bulbul, and Brown-capped Babbler. Streams in the park can sustain a large herd of Sri Lankan Elephants including Sri Lankan Elephant, 44 species of mammals are resident in Yala National Park. 25 individual leopards are estimated to roam in Block One (I). The elephant herd of Yala contains 400-450 individuals.The Spoted Deer is the commonest large mammal in the area wild boar and mouse deer can seen every where. Sri Lankan Sloth Bear, Sri Lankan Leopard, Sri Lankan Elephant and Wild Water Buffalo are threatened species that Yala is harboring. Toque Macaque, Golden Palm Civet, Red Slender Loris, and Fishing Cat, are among the other mammals that can be seen in Yala. The elephant population of the park varies seasonally.
If you visit Yala National Park there is two sessions Starting from Morning 6.00 Am and Evening 2.00 pm and you Should Hire Safari Jeep with Professional Driver .it will be 2 to 4 hours
