The Knuckles Mountain Range is also called Knuckles Massif; biodiversity hotspots in the district of Kandy and Matale in the Central Province of Sri Lanka. Located at an altitude of 1000 meters above sea level, with a land area of about 21 ha that consists of five peaks and 2nd peak is the highest peak 1869m. The average annual temperature in the Knuckles ranges lies between 5.5°C- 35°C. In a year, the average rainfall ranges between 3000-5000ml.It is a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site that comes under the Central Highlands of Sri Lanka’s World Heritage Properties, one of the two World Natural Heritage Properties in Sri Lanka. This massif is home to pockets of rare montane and cloud forest and offers fine hiking, trekking, camping, and bird-watching possibilities.
